Road Trip 2018 – New Zealand – Abel Tasman and Pūponga

The next day we got over to Lake Tekapo as planned, but the clouds and rain didn’t look good for our flight over Aoraki/Mt Cook. A rainy evening spent by the lake, then woke the following day to snow – which not only guaranteed no flight, but had closed roads over the the west, so we had to change routes.

The revised route saw us head over to the East and a lunch in Geraldine before staying the night in Blenheim at the Carnmore Chateau. Good food and wine – then got back on route to our next Airbnb on the edge of the Abel Tasman National Park, and a memorable meal at the Kimi Ora Eco Resort!

We headed further West for more amazing scenery and an iconic beach – Wharariki Beach at Pūponga – taking in The Grove and Te Wakoropupū springs, picking up some provisions for the day at The Wholemeal Cafe in Tākaka.

Back East the following day to Picton and the Wine Country!
