Alice and I met in Boston, MA to start a first walking and then Road-Trip covering various Fallout related sites in the US Northeast. We both flew into Logan, then headed to our Airbnb in Cambridge, and helped the jetlag with a visit to the Cambridge Brewing Company. The walking continued the following day, where we headed for breakfast at The Friendly Toast then on the train to Boston Common. We walked to the Boston National Historic Park – Charleston Navy Yard and the USS Constitution. Dinner was at the Daily Catch, then more walking about – and found us at the Cambridge Brewing Company (again).

The next day was very wet. No photos to speak of – we walked around MIT and visited the bookshop. Breakfast at Veggie Galaxy, lunch at Flour Bakery and Cafe, then into Boston for dinner at Toscano.
The following day was much brighter and off to Harvard. Brunch at Tatte Bakery and Cafe, then a good look around the college grounds and headed over the Boston Public Library (a Fallout location I believe) before a walk on the Charles River and out to Fenway Park – for Baseball – the Blue Jays were in town! First pitch delivered by Michael Collins, the Apollo 11 astronaut who didn’t get to walk on the moon. Boston won 7-5 in front of 36,000 fans.

We picked up a car next day, drove out to Castle Island and got breakfast at Sidewalk Cafe, South Boston. Next stop was the Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site – another Fallout location and a cool place to visit regardless. We followed the coast around and visited the Witch Museum at Salem, before heading over to Burlington and out hotel for the next couple of nights and dined at the Bancroft. Good steaks I seem to remember.

The next day we started at the Twist Bakery and Cafe then did a loop out to the Minute Man National Historic Park and a short hike around this Fallout location and important site in US/British history… We then headed up to Kittery, ME thus also taking in New Hampshire on the way through. Back to Burlington, where my timeline informs me that I visited a Microsoft Store. I’m guessing Alice was in Sephora. Eats that evening from Redstone American Grill.

A few more States added the next day as we headed down to New York through Rhode Island and Connecticut. The hotel was actually in Weehawken, NJ which gave us wonderful views of the NY skyline. Dinner likewise had wonderful views – outdoors at Molos.

A long drive the following day – NY to DC, but first enjoying that river view and dropping into Liberty Park to see Lady Liberty. In DC we dropped off the car and found our Airbnb, then had an evening walk to see the White House. The protest was about the children at the border being taken from their parents.

The next day Alice melted, it was that hot! Breakfast at Toastique then to the usual DC highlights – I’ll let the pictures do the talking. 45 may or may not have been in one of those helicopters. I can’t recall if we went to the Newseum that evening or the next one – it closed for good soon after, but an interesting place to go. We got a cab out to Peking Gourmet Inn over the Potomac into Virginia.

Having melted the previous day, we stayed in air-conditioned buildings as much as possible. Breakfast in the Hyatt at Praline Bakery, then to the National Portrait Gallery. The Obama portrait was the highlight – fortunately no 45 yet.

Newseum must have also been this day – as those are the views from the upstairs balcony. Next day we went our separate ways home.
