This loop started by heading up to Vancouver to meet up with some friends from the UK, then heading East for some wine tasting then North through Revelstoke and up to Jasper. Coming back South we stopped near Banff, parted company with our visitors who headed home via Calgary, while we headed into Idaho with a night in Sandpoint then home. Plenty of pictures taken and even a short video that I’m still working on the edit. Starting point – Vancouver, then to the Okanagan Valley and stayed at the Burrowing Owl. Beautiful spot and great wine.

Headed up the 97, before picking up Highway 1 over to Revelstoke, passing through Kelowna on the way.

Over Roger’s pass the following day, a walk down to Wapta Falls, then an unexpected trip to Golden General Hospital, before reaching our next stop at Emerald Lake Lodge.

After enjoying a very pleasant sunrise and coffee in our room, it was off to Moraine Lake for the day.

A slow day next, taking in the beauty of Emerald Lake, a walk around the lake and our first bear spotting – in the car park!

Natural Bridge Lower Falls, right near Emerald Lake was first stop the next day, then headed North to Patricia Lake, just outside Jasper. With Peyto Lake and Athabasca Glacier views en-route.

A couple of Days spent around Jasper – some local walks and out to Maligne Lake and Jasper House – and more bears!

Next stop Storm Mountain Lodge, taking in the glaciers and falls on the way south.

A trip into Banff came next, taking in some hoodoos and Lake Minnewanka.

Dropped our friends in Banff, and they headed off to Calgary, while we headed Southeast taking in Marble Canyon, Paint Pots and Numa Falls – ending the day at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort with an inquisitive deer.

Back into the United States the next day – after seeking out the source of the Columbia River, and a last stop at Sandpoint, Idaho.
