From Rodeo Lagoon there is a trail to the North end of the beach that goes along the coast. I’m not sure I took the ‘official’ trail but wanted to keep to the coast and not go too far inland/up. At first you have great views back along the beach, but just as interesting is the colourful hillsides and little inlets. At first I thought the rainbow was some kind of lens artefact, until I realised it was a rainbow from the breaking waves! I reached a gate that did not appear to have been closed for a long time…

Nothing bad happened after going through the gate – and the views back to the South were amazing. I came across a dark tunnel through woods – and wasn’t sure if this was the end of the line…

Until I came out from the dark to this wonderful view to the North, and a short headland with what looked like an art installation.

Time to try different lenses to capture the full 360 views from this spot.

With the last shot being the place I was headed to for my next car stop – Point Bonita and the lighthouse. But the walk back still gave good photo opportunities, both man-made structure from this headlands history as a defense post in the Second World War – with Batteries and Missile launch sites.

Back down to the beach – for lunch and wave watching. Including some very odd-looking water/wave hills in the ocean, something I can’t ever recall seeing before.

And one last look up the lagoon, before heading off to Point Bonita, just a few minutes away.
