A grey February day felt like a good excuse for a museum visit — the de Young’s had a big Tamara de Lempicka show on at the moment, all sharp Art Deco lines and that cool, polished glamour she’s known for.

Wandered through into the room with a handful of Matisse’s cut-outs from the Jazz series too — completely different energy, all bold colour and paper shapes instead of the smooth precision next door.

Out and into Golden Gate Park afterwards for a walk round Blue Heron Lake before the light went.

Good contrast to the morning — trading gallery walls for water and reflections.
